For a moment, think about how many times you’ve tried to change. Think about the goals you’ve had or the things you’ve wanted for yourself in your life.
Maybe you want to feel better about yourself. Maybe you want to excel at your work or become financially independent. Or maybe you want to learn a new skill, a new language, or a new ability.
You may not think you can accomplish your goals. Maybe you think back at all the times you tried to change in the past. Or maybe your bookshelf is full of self-help books and programs you’ve bought in the past with little or no results.
The secret to success, change, and transformation
What if I told you that you have the ability to change, improve, and succeed your goals, dreams, and ambitions? What if I told you could succeed in anything you put your mind to.
The secret to success is buried deep inside your mind.
Try this simple exercise:
- Write down a big dream, goal, or change you wanted to make in your life but couldn’t.
- Now list all the reasons, fears, obstacles, and stumbling blocks that got in the way of you and success. Make a list of what has stopped you from accomplishing your goals in the past.
- Now ask yourself: What would have happened if you could have overcome the fears, obstacles and stumbling blocks?
Would it be surprising to you that the only thing getting between you and success is your own mind?
Change your mind, change your life
Your mind doesn’t like to change. Once you learn how to do something, it becomes habitual.
For example, you might think typing is simple and effortless. You might be able to type without looking at your keyboard. But what would happen if all the letters on your keyboard were re-arranged? How long do you think it would take to unlearn and then relearn they keys?
The same thing applies to our learned behavior and habits. You may want to change or reach a goal, but your mind might sabotage your efforts.
Here’s an example: A person might want to lose weight and feel confident about themselves, but their mind might resist the changes they need to make. If their mind learned that food is a form of emotional comfort, that exercise is hard and painful, or that it feels safe to be overweight, then their mind will sabotage their weight loss efforts.
It doesn’t matter how many self-help books, diet plans, or programs you buy. If your mind doesn’t want to change a habit or behavior, it won’t.
Learn to master your mind.
